The Department was established in the year 2003 and is affiliated to Krishna University.

Achievements and Highlights

RECOGNITION :

    Ms. V.Sudha Devi has been appointed the Regional Coordinator for Coastal Andhra & Rayalaseema regions by National Board for Higher Mathematics(NBHM), Dept. Of Atomic Energy, Govt. Of India to conduct Regional Mathematical Olympiad and Indian National Mathematical Olympiad every year on the first Sunday of December and February respectively.
    The Department has been included under “ NBHM( National Board for Higher Mathematics) Book Complimentary Scheme” from 2003 onwards. Under this scheme the department receives good number of books on recent advancements in Mathematics and many more for free of cost.

 ACTIVITIES :
The Department in collaboration with AMIEd.(Association for Improvemnt of Maths Education) conducted a series of guest lectures on 25.06.2014 for the final B.Sc degree and PG students.

Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO)  :
The PG Department of Mathematics in collaboration with Homi Bhabha Science Centre,TIFR, Mumbai  conducted the following exams for the selection of students for International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp  which will held at HBCSE, Mumbai in the month of May, 2015.

Pre-RMO :
Pre – RMO exam was held on 14.09.2014 for the students for Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema at  twenty three centres from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm. About 8356 students registered and 7747 students appeared for this exam. For the next level namely, RMO, 602 students were selected.

RMO :
RMO was conducted on 07.12.2014 at Maris stella College from 1.00 pm  to 4.00 pm for the  602 students  who cleared  Pre RMO.  RMO is a three hour written test consisting of 6 or 7 problems. Based on the performance in RMO about 30 students will selected for the next level namely INMO(Indian National Mathematical Olympiad).

 INMO :

INMO will held on 01.02.20153 at Maris Stella College from 1.00 to 5.00 pm for the 30 students selected in RMO. This contest is a four hour written test and on the basis the INMO, 30 – 35 students from all over the country are chosen as INMO awardees and receive a merit certificate from HBCSE.
