About the Committee:

Maris Stella College has adopted holistic and realistic validation under autonomous system from 2003 onwards. The Examination Unit is headed by the Principal, (the Chief Superintendent of Examinations), Controller of Examinations and the Additional Controllers of Examinations. The Examination Unit comprises a team of office assistants, computer programmers, data entry operators and other helpers. The Examination Unit is ever vigilant, evaluates its functioning periodically and modifies the norms regularly in alignment with those proposed by the UGC.

OBJECTIVES

  • To conduct the entire evaluation process under the strict supervision of the Controller of Examination.
  • To maintain accuracy in evaluation.
  • To establish transparency and accountability in the required procedures.
  • To adopt effective security measures for the conduct of examination.
  • Establishment of committee to bring about necessary reforms for the stakeholders.
  • Develop mechanisms to collect feedback from students and address their concerns.

Functions of the Examination Unit (EU):

The Examination Unit’s functions are as follow

  • Provides information pertaining to all Examination.
  • Prepares Circulars pertaining to Online Examination Fees payment, modalities and last date of payments with fine.
  • Validates and organises moderation of question papers and ensures printing security.
  • Takes precautions while preparing Examination Time table, Invigilation list and seating arrangements for the smooth conduct of Examinations.
  • Appoints and assigns responsibilities to the staff during Examination.
  • Takes necessary steps to distribute CA Answer scripts to the concerned teachers for valuation and receives the same with Marks Statements.
  • Creates conducive atmosphere for the valuation of SEE answer scripts during Centralised valuation.
  • Issues Semester wise Grade Cards, Provisional Certificate and Transcript to concerned students.
  • Keeps record of all information pertaining to examinations.
  • Addresses all grievances related to examinations notified by staff and students.

1. Examination Committee: The  Examination  committee  is  an  apex  body  of  the  Institute  which consists of two sections: Examination and Record Maintenance. The main function of this Committee is to conduct Examinations, publish results, award certificates to the students who clears all papers and maintain records of each and every issue related to examinations.

Role and Functions of Examination Committee (EC):

  • Ensures smooth conduct of CA & SEE (both theory & practical) examinations.
  • Recommends examination reforms and implements them after the approval of the Academic council.
  • Consults and prepares detailed time table for Examinations.
  • Takes strict measures to avoid use of unfair means by students, faculty, and invigilators during examinations.
  • Conducts meetings at least twice in the academic year and whenever necessary.
  • Gives orientation to students regarding
  • Continuous Assessment
  • Semester End Examinations
  • Online Fee payment.
  • Holds briefing sessions for Faculty regarding
  • Invigilation duties (both CA & SEE)
  • Pre & Post Examination duties for the Chief, Scrutinizers and Squad.

2. Results Committee

The Results Committee analyses the results after the examination in coordination with the Examination Committee and then declares the results. The committee suggests moderation’s as the case may be.

3. Malpractice Committee

All malpractices addressed during examinations are referred to the Malpractice Committee. The Committee uses fair means to identify the type of malpractice carried out by the students, collects all evidences and submits the findings to the Principal. The Principal and Controller of Examinations take necessary action based on the report submitted by the Committee.

Functions of Malpractice Committee

  • Addresses the student who indulged in malpractice.
  • Collects and maintains records of all evidences.
  • Consults and suggest the penalty.
  • Informs the parents/guardian regarding the malpractice of their vards.
  • Implements the penalty according to the norms.

4.Grievance Redressal Committee:

Provides accessibility to students to address their grievance(s) regarding examinations.

Functions of Grievance Committee  

  • Collects the grievances from the students, scrutinises the authenticity of the grievances and takes appropriate decisions.
  • Resolves the grievances confidentially, impartially and on time.
